At Erik Runyan Jewelers, we feel like we’re a part of history — each and every day.

There is, of course, our own history, which stretches back more than a century. Around that time, a man named W.L. Runyan started fixing watches on a bench in the bus depot.

That was Erik Runyan’s great-grandfather. He eventually moved from watch repairs to jewelry wares — with a growing selection of fine jewelry. W.L. built himself a business — along with a sterling reputation for honesty, integrity, and quality.

ERJ’s sense of place and history is evident in our showroom, which hearkens back to a bygone age that’s not bygone at all. Rather, it lives on in our company’s continuing commitment to the same values that W.L. lived by.

A Brief History Of Jewelry

Another reason we feel like we’re a part of history is because of the art of jewelry itself.

Jewelry has a deep and rich history. Since ancient times, humans have adorned themselves with fine jewels, gems, and metals.

In fact, before the mining of metals and the forging of fine jewelry, even-more-ancient humans were decorating themselves with items they found intrinsically beautiful.

Consider that the earliest known pieces of jewelry are three shell beads that scientists estimate were worn 100,000 years ago! This is far, far back in time — not long (geologically speaking) after modern humans first appeared and began forming the rudiments of language.

Jewelry has been around since time immemorial, which is why we say we feel a part of history with every piece we showcase at Erik Runyan Jewelers.

For the ultimate Seattle Seahawks fan, Erik Runyan Jewelers has also introduced the exclusive “12th Woman Football Bracelet,” handcrafted in-house by design specialist Cameron Fettig. This wonderful custom piece is made with 14k yellow gold and features hand-applied pigskin dimpled links. Representing the 12th man (or woman) are 12 football-shaped diamonds with 3.25-carat total weight.
